“SOLUTIONS THAT WORK”
The Yukon government has entered into a five-year agreement with the Rick Hansen Foundation to provide financial support to Yukoners with spinal cord or other mobility-related disabilities. These funds will be available to assist with the costs of personal & technical supports, accessibility requirements, and community participation. Examples include: wheelchairs, other mobility-related equipment, aids to daily living equipment, ramps, transportation, education costs, recreation infrastructure, and other projects that will support a higher degree of community participation by applicants. This fund will also be available to non-profit organizations and others, including First Nations and municipalities to assist with similar costs.
The “Solutions that Work” fund will have $20,000 available for distribution each year for five years. Individuals, groups and organizations may apply for up to $4,000 per application.
All applications will be reviewed by the Territorial Solutions Team. The Solutions Team is made up of representatives of the disability community, non-government organizations and Yukon Government personnel. All applicants will be advised of the Solution Team’s decisions within three weeks after each application deadline. Each applicant may submit only one application per application period.
Please distribute the application to people in your organization who may be interested in this program. Applications should be delivered to Yukon Council on disABILITY, 4194-B 4th Avenue, Whitehorse, YT, Y1A 1J8, (corner of 4th Avenue and Ogilvie Street); by Fax to (867) 393-4992; or Email to yukoncod@northwestel.net
