  • Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP-Regular) for major repairs/replacements and RRAP-D for persons with disABILITIES to modify a house or apartment 
  • Home Adaptations for Senior Independence program, (HASI) that provides grants for seniors 65 and older for security systems, grab bars, special lighting, (suggested uses); specific to persons with disABILITIES  to assist them to stay in their homes, Grants increased from $2,500 to $3,500
  • Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (Rental RRAP-Secondary/Garden Suite) where residential property owner wants to modify their single family residence to create accomodation for low income seniors or adult persons with disABILITIES

McDonald Lodge for Seniors

Services Provided:

  • Eleven room YG care facility for Yukon seniors and the physically challenged
  • Residents stay at the lodge on a long term, (permanent), or short term, (respite, up to 30 days), basis
  • Programming is developed on an individual basis, appropriate to skills and interests
  • Lodge attendants provide personal support, and assist residents with recreation and therapy activities
  • Palliative care is provided with active participation of family and friends
  • Home support services for Dawson City are coordinated through McDonald Lodge for personal care, home management, (housekeeping, shopping, etc.), and respite care
  • Tr’ondek Hwech’in adult care workers provide home management services for First Nation community members. To apply for home support or meals on wheels contact the Lodge. Assessment and appropriate services will be arranged

Costs or Income Limits: $18/day cost to residents

  • Day program services to adults who have been labeled with an intellectual disABILITY
  • Residential programs involve providing support to individuals in their own homes
  • Day programs are geared toward individuals in residential programs, and to those residing in the community

Eligible to Participate: Adults with disABILITIES who can be supported in a 1:4 staffing ratio. In Step is a full day program for individuals living in the community, based on individual programming in areas of training, (job and life skills), literacy, supported employment and recreation

Cost or Income Limits: Most individuals are referred through YTG's Adult Services Unit or through DIAND

Geographical Limits: The clients have to be physically in the Yukon

Home Repair Program: Provides low interest loans to home owners wishing to repair homes for a variety of reasons, including improved accessibility. Subsidies on loan repayment may be available to people with low incomes

Rental Rehabilitation Program : Low interest loans are provided to landlords who upgrade their rental units for health and safety, energy efficiency and access for elderly or special needs tenants

Subsidized Housing Units: Yukon Housing manages subsidized housing units throughout the Yukon including those designated ''barrier free''
