Yukon Council on disABIILITY is a non-profit organization whose Mission Statement is:

"To be a resource for Yukoners with disABILITIES on issues of equity,
community awareness, government policy and employment"

Ms. Lisa Rawlings Bird - Executive Director
Lisa brings her extensive knowledge of YCOD’s Mission and Goals, her unbridled enthusiasm, and her team leadership skills with her as Executive Director. Lisa is responsible for all day-to-day operations including – coordinating activities of the organization including supervision of staff, compiling reports, responding to project ideas and development, writing proposals, providing direct support to clients and administering office finances.
The Executive Director is also responsible for media and public relations and ensuring that YCOD continues to maintain an active presence in the Yukon. Lisa has a degree in Social Work from the University of Regina, and has worked with persons with disABILITIES for 16 years in a variety of capacities.
 
Ms. Tannis Preete - Education and Employment Services Coordinator
Over the past 11 years, Tannis has worked as a job coach, a supported employment/education facilitator or persons with disabilities, a support person for persons with disabilities, and as a mental health worker. She is very committed to supporting people with disABILITIES who desire the opportunity to be employed in their community or who are interested in advancing their level of employability through continuing their education. Tannis began working toward a degree in Social Work through the Universities of Regina and Saskatchewan and hopes to eventually attain a degree in Psychology.
 
Ms. Mieke Evers - Employer Liaison/Job Coach
Mieke only joined YCOD this summer. She is now the new Employer Liaison/ Job Coach. She has a long history of working with people who have disabilities.  She has worked in group homes, as Support Worker and was a manager in a Daycare Centre for children with disabilities in the Netherlands (where she’s originally from). 
 
Mieke works toward matching prospective employers with YCOD clients, but that is only the first step. She also networks with employers - explaining all the benefits of hiring persons with disABILITIES.  Once a job is found, she can help clients in many ways, including support during the interview process, checking in on the first day or, if needed, short term support on the job until the new employee is confident with the tasks required to be successful at work.
 
 
Mr. Martin Lehner - Computor Tutor
Martin comes to the organization as the new Compute Tutor. He has previously worked in wireless telecommunications, currently works in the internet technologies sector, and has extensive experience with all forms of electronic technology. He holds an Associates Degree in Business Administration. Martin enjoys helping others and transferring his knowledge of computers.
 
Mrs. Celeste Marchand – Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper
Celeste brings with her years of experience as an Administrative Assistant in customer service environments. Celeste has almost completed and continues to work on her Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. She enjoys working with and helping others and will be ready to greet you at the door with a smile.
